Ways to Get Involved:

Bible Study

Each Thursday at noon (September-May) in the Social Hall, we study and discuss God’s Word together. Bring your favorite version of the Bible, and any questions or reflections you may have, as we learn more about God and who we are called to be as God’s people.

United Methodist Women

All women are welcome to participate in fellowship, discussion, mission, and outreach. The women usually gather at 7:00pm on the second Tuesday of each month in the Social Hall. Our two big fundraising events are the July 4th Pie Sale at Dehy Park, and the annual Christmas Bazaar, for sale at the United Methodist Women’s annual Christmas Bazaar. All proceeds go to support local, national, and global ministries. Donations of pies in July, and donations of homemade items, such as crafts, baked goods, jams, soup mixes, baking mixes, candy, and other goodies are needed usually held the first Friday of December. All proceeds go to local, national, and global missions.

Our Purpose is as follows: The United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Bunny Patch

The Independence Community Garden is committed to “building community and self-sufficiency in Independence by growing healthy food, being of service, and having fun.” We provide fresh produce for USDA commodity recipients and others with limited access.  Volunteers are needed to help tend the community garden areas. There is generally a work party at 5pm on the third Monday of the month.
